My name is Claudia Larrain. I have been a photographer for 20 years. I enjoy shooting in black and white. It is the most abstract form of photography since we do not see the world in black and white. The experience is surreal and sustains one's attention into a world of fantasy. I also enjoy experimental photography. I enjoy making abstract composites using multiple photographs. Nature is always and inspiration as are historical architectural buildings.
I have been inspired by the works of the "Decisive Moment" popular in the 60s. A relative named Sergio Larrain, inspired me the most. I did a series on the homeless for an ongoing art show at the Studio@620 on Social Justice. I was inspired to write a book on the topic, that will be available by next year. I also wrote a book on artists and emotional balance called "EnPointe" and is available in bookstores world-wide and online. As a former psychologist I am an advocate for mental illness, and the homeless, especially the mentally ill and homeless veterans. The series on architecture was inspired by my travels to Europe as a young child. Nature is the source of the most beautiful and inspiring works of are by mother nature. My abstract series were experimental works I did during my studies in photography. I explored composite works, and black and white minimalist stills.
